New Paragraph
Valley Transit District complies with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). One of the many provisions states that paratransit service must be provided to ADA paratransit eligible individuals whose transportation origins and destinations are within a 3/4 mile radius of the CT Transit (255) or Greater Bridgeport Transit (15) fixed route services. ADA paratransit service outside the 3/4 mile service area is not mandated under the regulation and may not be provided. Fares for ADA riders can be no more than twice what is charged on regular fixed route bus service.
All written materials are available in alternative formats (i.e. Braille, voice recording, USB's, large print) upon request by contacting VTD at 203-735-6824.
Here are some examples of disabilities or conditions that would make a rider eligible for ADA:
Those ADA passengers needing a reasonable modification to their service may make a request while booking their reservation. When origin to destination service (door to door) is necessary, we encourage passengers to inform the VTD reservationist of this request.
The above criteria are just a few examples of meeting ADA criteria. For further questions or to apply for ADA status, please call our administrative office at 203-735-6824 or click on the link below to download an ADA certification application.

An Application is "complete" when all sections of the application are filled out, VTD has received the completed medical verification from an appropriate professional, and an interview.
Applications will be returned if they are not properly filled out.

Please sign the application.
If a decision is not made within 21 days, presumptive eligibility and ADA Paratransit service will be provided until a final decision is made. You will be notified of your eligibility by letter. If you are determined to be eligible for ADA Paratransit for some or all your trips, you will receive a Certification Letter and a Customer Guide with information about how to use the service.
